![]() ![]() I'll very likely need some stand in minis to fill in any mass twigblight scene either way, no biggie. So, I'm strongly considering mixing in these newer blights and adjusting stats on all of them to keep it interesting but not too hard/similar to the original EL # of the 3.5 Sunless Citadel. what do you use? I'm trying to mostly stay with what is in the 3.5 Sunless Citadel, but then again miniature-wise I have one of each of Nolzur's unpainted twig blight, needle blight, and vine blight. I see them with so many different stat blocks on the web and in the various versions of the source books/mobdules. ![]() Twig Blights: So we are mostly doing The Sunless Citadel with some bouncing around another tiny dungeon. I'm certain I'm missing something though. Then from a lucky initiative/the party didn't try to kite/range attack for some reason (my kid is new to this/didn't know how to handle it), I was able to engulf one PC and keep the battle interesting. don't they have enough time to basically stop walking and throw up their arms to prevent the others from walking into it? If that is the case, how's it normally hit anybody with it's slow movement? Where do you allow them to stop walking and roll initiative if it were to be a 60 foot approach to a non-moving cube? Gelatinous Cube likelihood of engulf or hitting: How do you run them? If you have a party of four at level 3 walking towards a motionless gel.cube and even just one makes their spot check. a reflex save, which makes sense while you are on your feet outside the cube. is that used for a non-paralyzed but engulfed PC strength check per round in 3.5? Or do the characters not get out till the cube is killed? The initial engulf is vs. ![]() Gelatinous cube strength check to escape engulf?: How does the grapple checks work? One round or every round not paralyzed while engulfed? The 3.5 MM doesn't say engulfed Player Characters can suffocate unless I missed that (which logically it seems like they would suffocate if engulfed, I think 5e points this out). your preferred way to handle these two lowish level monsters? But I'm not above "improving things" here and there with some 5e tweaks, hopefully minor tweaks only. I'm using 3.5 as it's what I have the most physical materials for and experience with.
